For the Fish:
- 4 fillets white fish (such as cod or sea bass) approximately 6 ounces (170g) each
- 2 tbsp olive oil (30ml)
- 1 tsp paprika (2g)
- 1 tsp ground cumin (2g)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt (2g)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (1g)
- 1 lemon thinly sliced
- Fresh parsley for garnish
For the Green Tahini Sauce:
- 1/2 cup tahini (120g)
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro (15g)
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley (15g)
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tbsp lemon juice (30ml)
- 1/4 cup water (60ml)
- Salt to taste
Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Prepare the Fish: Lay the fish fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with olive oil and season with paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Gently rub the spices onto both sides of the fillets.
Add Lemon Slices: Place thin slices of lemon on top of each fillet. This will infuse the fish with a zesty lemon flavor as it bakes.
Bake the Fish: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
Make the Green Tahini Sauce: While the fish is baking, combine tahini, cilantro, parsley, minced garlic, lemon juice, and water in a blender. Blend until smooth, adding more water if needed to reach a pourable consistency. Season with salt to taste.
Serve: Once the fish is baked, transfer the fillets to serving plates. Drizzle generously with the green tahini sauce and garnish with fresh parsley.
Enjoy: Serve your Israeli Baked Fish with Green Tahini Sauce immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Adjust the baking time based on the thickness of the fish fillets; thicker pieces may need a few extra minutes.
The green tahini sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
If you prefer a thinner sauce, simply add more water until you reach your desired consistency.
For an added Mediterranean touch, serve the fish with a side of couscous or a fresh salad.
